Before jumping to the recipe, we want to let you know why we consider it important to share this recipe of how to make coconut butter at home. First of all, right now there are many vegan products on the market claiming to be healthy but they in fact are less healthy than the regular ones (not vegan options). Most of the time they are full of ingredients/additives to emulate textures or flavors that end ups full of empty calories and unhealthy stuff. for this reason, we prepare our own coconut butter, using coconut cream as the only main ingredient, no nasty things, no additives.

How to make healthy vegan butter at home?

  1. Ingredient choice:

    This is the most important as coconut cream is reach in good fat for our bodies and brains we decided to prepare coconut butter. Please check that the coconut cream that you buy doesn’t contain any additives.

  2. Flavor: we decided to use only salt flakes but you can play around adding finely chopped fresh herbs too.

    we kept things simple, only coconut cream and salt this time.

  3. keep it refrigerated, and before use, removes it from the fridge to recover the spreadable texture, as it becomes harder with the cool.

Equipment

  • stand mixer

Ingredients

  • 250 ml coconut cream (cool)
  • 1/2 tbsp salt flakes

Instructions

  • keep the coconut cream in the fridge and when is totally cool, open the can and take only the creamy part and place it into the bowl of the stand mixer. Reserve the water for other preparation.
  • start to whisk at medium speed for a few minutes you will notice that the cream starts to release the water and solids start to deposit at the bottom of the bowl. continue whisking for a few more minutes
  • after 6 – 7 minutes of whisking at medium/high speed, more water is released, and the solids(butter) will be attached to the whisk. you can stop whisking and use a strainer to separate the solids (butter) from the liquid.
  • place the solid in a shallow bowl and using a spoon press and give it a flat shape. now your coconut butter is ready to enjoy.
  • keep refrigerated and remove from the fridge a few minutes before using it to have a spreadable texture.
